COVID UPDATE- JANUARY 4TH, 2022

This is not a Pity Post but simply an expression of emotions which I have kept silent and bottled up for long enough. It’s been almost 2 years now since this Pandemic has started and clearly it has affected each and every one of us in different ways, some worse than others. When will it be over? I wish I knew. But judging by the high numbers of infections, it could be our worst year yet.

Since March of 2020, we have been through 3 lockdowns, some lasting as long as 4 months long.

And yesterday (January 3rd), we get news of yet another lockdown for us by the Ford Government and the Chief Medical Officer. 3 weeks of no indoor dining for us they say but we’ve heard this low estimation many times and will no doubt turn out to be more like 3 MONTH SHUTDOWN!

How is it that they decide on themselves that these high cases are coming from people dining in a restaurant? Have they come to their own conclusion? Of course not, but once again, they have ordered us to shut down!

Have they ever considered these cases may be coming from Social Gatherings, Grocery Stores and Big Box stores? Yes, but in order to continue lining up their pockets with billions in tax dollars, they must keep these stores open and shut down every small business that means nothing to them. Everything they’ve ordered us to do, we have done. We constantly disinfect, hand sanitize, post the proper signage, keep logbooks, and ask for IDs and passports when our customers walk in. WTF do they want from us now?

The same people that have not lost one paycheck since this started are dictating who to close and who to keep open. Another nail, for some the final nail in the coffin for small business owners. Whoever has survived through this so far, which is very few, have been dealt yet another blow. Happy New Year! Just in time for our credit card bills over Christmas that will be coming in soon.

Stay home they tell us, and we will give you the “new” lockdown support money which after taxes is $270 a week. I’m sorry but in my house that about covers the grocery bills at most and nothing else.

All I want to do is go to work and make a living and I no longer can. At my age after 37 working years I would have hoped to slow down at this point in my life and enjoy life but unfortunately that dream has died. I don’t want their petty handouts they offer us. I just want to be able to go to my job and make a living like everyone else.

I apologize for the long post but needed to get this out.

Doug Ford, your plan to Bankrupt us all is working and you're almost there, but while you're waiting, I wish one thing for you, and it’s to GO F*** YOURSELF!
